binomess So this is how Pallas' classic "The Sentinel" could've have sounded had the record company not meddled. Despite the oftentimes ropey sound quality, listening to these demos makes me wonder "if only..." BTW, Mellotron fans take note - this album is covered with it

futureperfect93 What an addition to the original album, respectively its "Rough mix" which is also available on Bandcamp. I combined the tracks from both album versions (with great tracks like "Atlantis" and "Ark of Infinity" in good quality from the Rough Mix as well as initially cancelled jewels like "March on Atlantis" or "East West" too good to leave out) so that in the end I have a near perfect compilation of the album in its original Atlantis concept as well as Arrive Alive at the beginning. Great! Favorite track: March on Atlantis.

about

Originally available as lower quaility mp3 files as part of the now sold out "Mythopoeia" cd rom released 2002 and now re-equed and available at higher quality through bandcamp, these tracks are the original demoes for The Sentinel, the ones that lead to the band being signed by EMI and the subsequent release of that album.

An important note about the source audio:

In those days the facilities available to up-coming bands were rather basic compared to this century!

The tracks were mostly recorded on a cassette based "portastudio" or in some cases directly off the sound desk at gigs but this also imbues the tracks with a certain 'patina', which given their 30+ years age is quite fitting, so please understand that these are not of modern recording studio quality.

The original cassettes were transferred to digital as aiff files so now they can be downloaded at a better quality than the previously available medium quality mp3s from 11 years ago. Bandcamp provides a range of lossless file types as well as mp3.

We have also added some additional tracks from that period which had not been featured on previous releases.

As you will hear the grandiose plans for a double album were tempered by the record company executives along with the imperative for the snappy radio play oriented material...these demo tracks hint at what could have been and contain the intended framework for the detailed storyline for the concept.
